That's Music To The Ears

By Anne Weaver

There are a lot of parents who dream that one day, they can watch their children perform on stage, before a audience, playing a song that is good music to the ears. More than a few realise such dream and are grateful that they made a decision to sign up their children to those music lessons. But it is important to note that turning a child into a musician isn't all about fulfilling the parents' fantasies. There are actually a lot of benefits that such lessons bring to the kid himself or herself. In the following paragraphs, we will be enumerating few of them. For one, keyboard lessons help children to perform better in school compared to their non-musical counterparts. Studies show that children who enrolled in keyboard lessons perform better particularly in subjects like math, science and engineering - areas which most of their peers commonly find trouble in understanding.

Playing music is not exactly simple. That said, a kid learns to remain positive believing that he or she has what it takes to succeed in the seemingly difficult task. He or she also learns the value of patience and recognises the importance of practice to outdo his or her last best performance. Simply put, a child knows that he or she shouldn't be afraid to face challenges by becoming discouraged and frustrated too soon.

The same kid likewise develops focus while he or she reads, interprets and translates a piece of music. Understanding every note while trying to keep up with the pace of the progression isn't all that simple. But he or she must nevertheless learn quick because there's not much room for error especially during live performances. Through this kind of training, the kid hones his or her creativity and critical thinking and utilises the same skills in other areas of life.

Furthermore, since a kid will have to deal with the challenge of performing before an audience, he or she is able to build the confidence needed to overcome it. At the same time, the child learns to display poise and grace under pressure. Through the lessons, a kid develops an understanding that stress is actually an important part of the learning process. Because of this, he or she prepares well to be able to give each performance his or her best shot.

By learning to play music using the piano, children acquire the kind of skills and knowledge which can actually help find it easier to make pleasing sounds using other musical instruments. The schools that offer keyboard classes in Singapore normally include Guitar lessons in their programs too. So if your child enjoyed his or her lessons in piano, it is best to encourage him or her to pursue his or her love for the craft. As your child strives to become a better musician, you will enjoy hearing melodies of great composers and eventually, original compositions which will surely make you an even prouder parent.
