When you're stressed, eat your favorite treat. Only do this if your self-control is such that you will not overeat. Savor your treat and every one of its bites so that you can only focus on its taste on your tongue. If you have the self-control to only do this occasionally, it can be useful for fighting stress.

It is integral to control anger at all times to help deal with stressful situations. When you're upset, avoid getting worked up and raising your blood pressure. By learning safe techniques to deal with your anger, you can control your stress level.

Invite your friends to enjoy a jog around town. You can sweat out the toxins circulating in your body while you jog. It also helps reduce stress and refreshes your mind.

Looking at soothing images can help keep stress levels under control. For example, images of mountains or oceans can help to relax your mind. If you do not have photographs, close your eyes and visualize peaceful settings. You will feel your body relax as you use these visualization techniques.

One of the best ways to lower your stress is by exercising. A brisk walk or a jog in the park can be simple but effective ways to exercise. The reason for this is that when you exercise, your body creates endorphins. A great thing about the endorphins that are released is that they naturally cause your body to relax and become calmer. Regular exercise is also beneficial to the removal of toxins that may possibly cause stress.

Practice deliberate and controlled breathing. It may be hard to believe but simply breathing deeply can increase the oxygen in your bloodstream and relax your body rapidly. When most people experience anxiety, they typically use their upper chest to breathe. This shallow type of breathing, speeds up your heart rate and tightens your chest muscles, adding to the stressed feeling.

When people suffer from extreme stress on a day to day basis, it is quite easy to use tobacco and alcohol as a stress reliever. However, leaning on these substances too much can actually cause an increase in stress. If you want to decrease your stress levels, avoid smoking and alcohol consumption.

Do not allow your anxiety to prevent you from enjoying work and social situations. Pets, on the other hand, have much simpler needs and they can actually help to reduce stress. Taking time to interact with a pet offers a break that's needed in the day, and it's actually a healthy one.

Hot baths are a great way to alleviate stress. Add scented oil or soap to your bath water for an added aromatherapy boost. Put on a little relaxing music or read a favorite book. A nice warm bath is a very good way to get your body and brain to rest and have your stress disappear.
