Choosing the Perfect Children's Watch: Analogue or Digital?

By Brad Wilson

As parents, we want the best for our kids, and this includes the watches they wear. You want something that is remarkably strong and also perfect to make a child's dreams come alive. Children should be taught the art of responsibility. And the best way to do that is getting them the right watch. However, there are a few questions you need to answer before selecting a watch, like when to give it to your child, what watch is best for their rambunctious play, and whether or not analogue or digital is best.

Give Your Children Watches

Even when you kids are in the first or second grade you should encourage them to wear a watch. This is the time they are finding out about numbers and learning how to tell digital and analogue time. When you see that this is what they are learning you should present them with a watch.

When you give them their first watch, be sure to ask them to give you the time. By doing this, you will be encouraging your child to use the skills they are learning and give him a sense of pride when he gets the time correct. Make a game out of it, asking them to keep track of the time their favourite TV shows come on each day, when supper is, and what time they get a snack before they have to go to bed.

Analogue or Digital? Which is Best for Kids?

The best watches to give kids are the G Shock watches from Casio because they are reliable and sturdy. They are strong enough to be used by kids and they come in many sizes and styles. There is even a line of G Shock's, called Baby G's, that your girls will adore.

Still the question remains: Analogue watch or a digital one?

Kids initially begin learning about time according to the analogue system. The reason for this is because if children only learn the digital clock they will never be able to read analogue ones. It will be impossible for them to ever use an analogue Casio watch.

So, when you decide to choose your child's first G Shock watch, go with analogue. This is perfect for starters. Later you can always buy them a digital clock of their choice.

It is important to give your watch buying decision a bit of thought before you purchase an analogue or digital clock for your child. A Casio G Shock is most likely the best choice, and always remember to start your kids off with an analogue watch. Later on, as they grow older and become accustomed to telling time with an analogue clock, they can make the choice of whether they want an analogue or digital watch.
