What Causes Panic Attacks in men?

By Platt Charlebois

Children, whose emotional make-up has yet to become stable, are also subject to panic attacks. In many places these are also called anxiety attacks. Some people also consider these a normal, healthy emotion which is in response to certain stimuli. However, when these become more frequent than normal and also more intense, this can signal that the child has panic disorders. But what triggers these attacks?
[What Causes Panic Attacks]

There are many factors which can cause and trigger a panic attack episode. Genetics will play a major factor, if members of your family have experienced a panic disorder than this will place you at a higher risk of developing the disorder at some point in your life. However it is also important to note that some individuals still develop the condition despite no genetic links. This may then lead us to believe that environmental factors are also responsible for the development of the condition. There are also physiological causes. TSD, hyperthyroidism as well as OCD can be a direct cause of panic attacks. It has also been found that people with a low blood glucose level are also at a higher risk of experiencig panic disorders.

A child feigns sickness and looks for every excuse for not going to school. There is a definite co-relation between school phobia and separation anxiety. This is because children are hit with the insecurity of leaving the secure environment of their home.Stress-related anxiety. One of the most common causes of panic attacks in children is stress. Stress is linked to anxiety attacks and may be because of heavy responsibilities at home and in school. This also includes unfinished tasks, physical and psychological abuse, a school bully, environment that is unfit for the child's age, violence, etc.

Lifestyle Change. This is very common when parents move. Most children develop a sense of security from their closeness to familiar friends and surroundings. When this abruptly changes, we can expect the child to have some apprehension and this may induce a panic attack.Other reasons. There are many instances when panic attacks occur for no apparent reason. This can be during the day even in the security of one's home or with friends. At other times it may happen when the child is asleep.Experts feel that this occurs when the child recalls something traumatic. This could be the death of a loved one or an impending move. These may trigger anxiety and lead to a panic attack.

Many parents attempt to reassure their children so they do not have to face uncertainties. It is these uncertainties that cause panic and anxiety issues. Parents who spend more time reassuring and validating their children report that their children have fewer panic attacks. It is also recommended that parents monitor that their children read and watch. Sometimes what they read watch (including the video games they play) can cause panic attacks.

More often than not, we do not know what causes panic attacks. Even after we boggle our heads to come up with an answer, it is still difficult to tell what could be causing this highly irritating and inconvenient disorder. I can help you lessen the burden, but I believe we should begin with giving answers to the question - what is a panic attack?

A panic attack is actually a natural reaction of your body to things and events that your body considers as a threat. Examples of these are stressful events, a disease, and the likes. These attacks, however, become a disorder when your life begins to crumble because of it. That means you cannot work well, socialize with other members of the community, or simply said, you will stop living like a normal individual would.

When a person starts to manifest actual symptoms their minds start racing. You start to get concerned with your symptoms and you cannot stop thinking about them. All of this concern causes you to manifest other symptoms. and these eventually cause more. This is how the cycle of anxiety starts.

Now that you have an overview of what this disorder is it is time to discuss what causes panic attacks. There are countless of reasons why you have this disorder but there are few that prevail. One of these causes is heredity. Unfortunately for the keen of those who developed this disorder, it can be passed on from one generation to the next.Another probable cause is the way you see things or deal with your problems. If you are the kind of person who thinks keeping your negative emotions bottled up is a better idea than confronting anyone, then you are at risk for developing this disorder. Yes, those bottled up emotions may well escalate to panic or anxiety attacks.

One more thing that could trigger or cause your attacks is taking drugs. I don't mean taking prohibited drugs, the drugs I am referring to are regular prescription drugs that have an initial adverse effect of panic attacks. There is no need to fret though as like what I have said, this is just an initial reaction to the drug and the chances of it lasting longer than expected is very slim. You may also consider a tragic event, like a lost of a loved one, to be a triggering factor to the disorder. Imagine how stressful and traumatic it could be to see someone die right before your very eyes. That image could stick in your mind and the stress and anxiety it brings about can lead to your attacks. Now you see how many things can actually cause your attacks; and that is just the tip of the ice berg, there are many other things that we can discuss. For now, let me just say that the best way to avoid your attacks, is to avoid stress in general.
